The $50 shop minimum is the minimum labor charge for small repairs or services that do not require a full hour of labor. This helps cover the time, equipment, supplies, and operating costs involved with servicing your machine.
The $50 minimum is not an additional fee added on top of tune-ups or larger repairs. If your repair or service already exceeds $50 in labor, you will simply be charged the normal service or repair price, plus any applicable parts.

In addition to routine maintenance and a basic overall inspection, the Advanced Tune-Up includes a detailed carburetor cleaning to help address fuel deposits and buildup that can contribute to hard starting, rough running, surging, hesitation, or inconsistent engine performance.
​
For most self-propelled walk-behind mowers, the package also includes the labor to install a replacement drive belt or replacement cable when needed. Because some drive-system designs vary between manufacturers and models, some mowers may require substantially more disassembly or specialized labor. In those cases, additional labor may apply and will be discussed before the repair is performed.
​
Blade sharpening and balancing is also included to help maintain a clean, consistent cut and reduce unnecessary vibration.

In addition to routine seasonal maintenance and a general inspection, the Advanced Tune-Up includes a detailed carburetor cleaning to help address fuel deposits, varnish, and buildup that can contribute to hard starting, rough running, surging, hesitation, or inconsistent engine performance.
​
The Advanced service also includes a more detailed inspection and lubrication of the drive system, with additional attention given to accessible drive components, moving parts, cables, belts, and lubrication points. This helps reduce wear, maintain smooth operation, and identify developing issues before they become more serious repairs.
​
For most snowblowers, labor to install a replacement control or drive cable is included when replacement is needed. Labor for certain belt replacements may also be included on models where the belt can be replaced within the normal scope of the service. Because snowblower designs vary considerably between manufacturers and models, some cable or belt replacements may require substantial additional disassembly or repair time. In those cases, additional labor may apply and will be discussed with the customer before the work is performed.

Professional Sharpening & Balancing — Priced Per Blade

Our Lawn Mower Blade Sharpening & Balancing service is designed to restore a cleaner, more consistent cut by sharpening dull or worn mower blades and checking the balance before they are returned to service.
​
Properly sharpened and balanced blades can help improve cutting quality, reduce tearing of the grass, and minimize unnecessary vibration that can place added stress on mower components.
​
Pricing is per blade. Each blade is sharpened, balanced, and visually inspected for excessive wear, cracking, bending, or other damage that may make the blade unsafe or unsuitable for continued use.
​
Please Note: The listed sharpening and balancing price does not include blade removal or reinstallation. If Midwest Small Engines needs to remove the blade from the mower, a separate blade removal and installation charge will apply in addition to the per-blade sharpening price.
​
Blades that are bent, cracked, severely worn, or otherwise unsafe to reuse may require replacement. Replacement blades and any additional labor are charged separately.

For equipment that does not fall under one of our standard tune-up services, maintenance will be completed using the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule for that specific machine.

We will review the owner’s manual and follow the applicable maintenance checklist based on the machine’s current operating hours or the highest maintenance interval that is due. Depending on the equipment, this may include inspections, adjustments, lubrication, cleaning, fluid changes, and other routine maintenance items specifically recommended by the manufacturer.
​
Before service begins, we will provide a quote for the expected maintenance labor along with common maintenance items that can reasonably be determined ahead of time, such as oil, spark plugs, filters, or other routine service materials.
​
Once the machine has been inspected and the maintenance process has begun, additional worn, damaged, or serviceable components may be discovered. If additional parts or labor are required beyond the original maintenance quote, we will provide an updated quote before completing that additional work.
​
Because maintenance requirements vary between manufacturers, models, and operating-hour intervals, the exact work performed and final cost will vary from machine to machine. This allows us to service the equipment according to the manufacturer’s actual maintenance recommendations rather than using the same general tune-up checklist for every type of machine.
